A multinational telecommunications company sought a service that would provide senior executives in the client's head office with actionable intelligence regarding the political and security dynamics of a country in which the client was seeking to invest heavily. The client required information and associated analysis that was neutral and objective; something that they deemed difficult to obtain solely from open sources given the nature of the country under investigation.
SAM was able to respond to their request by producing a detailed political-risk assessment that focused on key challenges (i.e. corruption, economic espionage, terrorist attacks) that our client was likely to face if they invested in the country.
Our findings ultimately shaped the approach our client adopted to further assess the benefits of their potential investment. As a result of identifying weaknesses within the target market, including concerns regarding the integrity of potential partners, our client eventually withdrew their intentions.
