Institutional Intelligence
Institutional intelligence focuses on providing our clients (commercial, governmental and non-governmental) with strategic and operational intelligence on how evolving political risk and security threats will impact their respective interests.
SAM translates institutional intelligence into succinct analysis, forecasting and scenario development. These services culminate with the design and implementation plan of practical applications against renewed situational awareness, thus providing clients with a constantly updated profile of its target market.
Institutional Intelligence services consist of eight key service areas:
- Strategic Forecasting
- Political Risk Analysis
- Socio-Political Analysis
- Threat Analysis
- Profiling
- In-Depth Studies of Client-Identified Issues
- Training Courses and Seminars
- Early Warning System and Access to Senior Intelligence Analysts
Strategic Forecasting
This service provides in-depth information about a specific issue that is deemed of interest and concern to our client. Strategic forecasting commonly acts as an umbrella service that identifies markets amenable to client penetration based on a selection of pre-defined indices.
Political Risk Analysis
SAM can provide detailed political risk analysis reports that assess the operational environment of a specific country or region as it pertains to specific client interests and intentions.
A systematic and thorough assessment of political risk in a defined target market will provide an understanding of the obvious and hidden obstacles that exist - as they pertain to our client.
Socio-Political Analysis
This service focuses on providing clients a detailed examination of the impact of grassroots/local activities on their operations and interests in a specified geographic location.
Although the conclusions regarding the political accessibility of a market may be positive, more detailed intelligence - dealing with social perceptions in pin-pointed locations that a client is interested in penetrating, for example - could flag unforeseen obstacles at an early stage.
This service therefore provides an early warning to tensions that may arise by focusing on pressures posed by groups that seek to resist the penetration of a foreign entity. As a result, points of concern are identified by SAM, and recommendations are made to our clients to help avoid or negotiate tensions between local groups and client interests.
Threat Analysis
These are capabilities-based assessments that act as a warning system for clients by tracking changes in adversarial and competitor behavior that directly or indirectly seek to cause disruption to client interests in the target environment.
Threat Analysis includes the following intelligence:
- Identification of real and potential adversaries (criminal, terrorist, government, competitors)
- Adversary capabilities and attack methodologies
- Aims and ideological underpinnings
- Environmental context (i.e. factors that could change the 'normal' behavior of a specific adversary)
- Potential attack types and probability of such attacks
- Threat trajectory of adversary activities
- Key vulnerabilities as determined by adversary characteristics and activities
Profiling
SAM's profiling services provide more detailed actionable intelligence regarding a specific adversary. This service helps our clients determine the minimum level of risk mitigation required at the outset of project implementation.
In-Depth Studies of Client-Identified Issues
SAM responds to client-identified requests for specific research and analysis projects based on their interests and needs. These can include targeted reports that work in tandem with a client who has employed SAM's Management services, such as:
- Assessments of transportation routes for clients involved in logistics;
- Assessments of supply-chain risks and related client exposure at identifiable points, and;
- Assessments of the costs of disruptions to projects.
Training Courses and Seminars
SAM can coordinate and/or contribute to the operation of a variety of training courses that help clients - on a strict timeline - gain interactive knowledge about processes or specific commercial or political risks relating to their operations.
Example courses and seminars include:
- Corporate management courses designed to apply threats to specific corporate operations
- Seminars designed to provide quality training and standardization of client security personnel proportionate to the threat levels faced by the security teams
- How to establish an internal SRA capability - with ongoing support from SAM
Early Warning System and 24-Hour Access to Senior Intelligence Analysts
Through an 'early warning system,' SAM can monitor ongoing political and security risk developments in medium- to high-risk locations for a select number of clients. In addition, SAM can provide clients access to a 24-hour response service that is aimed at providing immediate analysis of political and security risk developments in client areas of operation.
